Signet’s flagship Hazmat Technician core course is specifically designed to bring students from a knowledge base of zero to Hazmat Technician as defined by OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120(q) and/or NFPA 470, depending on your specific team needs. Customization fully allows for more extensive coverage of any subject matter area, as certain aspects or levels of detail may be adjusted from the base curriculum at any time for specific customer applicability, providing that any changes do not detract from personnel meeting minimum federal standards. These regulations allow for some degree of flexibility to meet the requirements of this section. Modifications can affect the timeframe of each course.
Signet’s NFPA 470 Hazardous Materials Safety Officer course prepares the hazardous materials technician to fulfill the roles and responsibilities required of the Hazmat Safety Officer role in the Incident Command System. In addition, it will assist in preparing an organization’s overall hazardous materials response management program and protocols.
This course is geared towards emergency response personnel who wish to acquire specific working knowledge and skills related to the use of and interpretation of information provided by hazardous materials air monitoring equipment. Topics covered include fundamental hazmat behaviors as they relate to chemical detection equipment, making decisions as to the selection, equipment limitations, interpretation of data, and sample collection for lab analysis. This class includes extensive hands-on field exercises to apply the various concepts discussed. Students will work in small groups to ensure maximum involvement and participation in the class. The experience will heavily involve live application of the material learned during this exciting 16-Hour course.
Signet North America’s 40-hour Highway Emergency Response course (as well as our 8 and 16 hour Refresher courses) is designed to prepare emergency responders to handle the wide variety of hazardous materials incidents involving highway transportation. This includes chemical cargo tanks, dry vans and modern alternative fuels vehicles. Topics include container features, valves, venting systems, basic repairs, drilling and transfer techniques, and grounding and bonding, all incorporated into an extensive hands-on-experience.

Career Changing I was voluntold that I was going to become a Hazmat Technician to meet the needs of my agency, and I had no previous passion about Hazmat. This class completely changed that.
