Signet North America’s Hazardous Materials Monitoring course is geared towards emergency response personnel who wish to acquire real-world, relevant knowledge and skills for using and interpreting information provided by hazardous materials air monitoring equipment. Effectively using a variety of chemical detection devices is one of the single most important components of a successful response to a hazardous materials / dangerous goods event.
Course objectives
Signet North America’s Hazardous Materials Air Monitoring course will address the criteria found in 2022 NFPA 470 Chapter 34, Competencies for Hazardous Materials/WMD Technicians with an Advanced Monitoring and Detection Specialty (NFPA 472), as well as Chapter 10.2.1.2 Detection, Monitoring, and Sampling. It is critically essential that personnel utilize the equipment they use within their own agencies. To that end, although Signet North America makes instrumentation available, we highly encourage attendees to bring their own agency’s devices to learn the particular strengths, limitations, and specific applications of their own equipment.
Course Content
This class includes numerous hands-on activities and exercises to practice the skills acquired throughout this experience. These include but are not limited to:
