Hazmat Chemistry Course

8 Hour Course

Summary Description

This 8-hour hands-on course is designed to make hazmat chemical terminology applicable for emergency responders as found in 2002 NFPA 470. Rather than simply discuss the terms, responders will actually create and observe the various behaviors, and learn how these behaviors are relevant in the field at 2:00 a.m.

Through live demonstrations and interactive exercises, responders will gain a working knowledge of chemical properties, reactivity, and response tactics. This training ensures they can confidently apply their skills in real-world hazmat incidents

Chemistry You Will Actually Use includes the terms outlined in NFPA 470 including but not limited to the following concepts:

  • FORMS AND CHANGES OF MATTER
  • CHEMICAL REACTIONS
  • PHYSICAL REACTIONS
  • CRYOGENICS
  • BEHAVIORS OF COMPRESSED GAS
  • FLAMMABILITY
  • OXIDIZERS
  • CORROSIVES
  • WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION
  • COMBUSTIBLE DUSTS
  • POLYMERIZATION
