It focuses on the Safety Officer’s responsibilities in managing and mitigating risks during hazardous materials and weapons of mass destruction (WMD) incidents within the Incident Command System (ICS) framework.
Signet North America’s NFPA 470 Hazardous Materials/WMD Technician course equips participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the standards outlined in Chapter 18 of the 2022 NFPA 470 standard for Hazardous Materials/WMD Safety Officers. In addition to practical exercises, students will review case studies of real-world incidents to reinforce learning. The course ensures that participants can confidently manage safety operations, enforce protocols, and take proactive steps to minimize risks in hazardous materials or WMD incidents.

Previous training to the Hazardous Materials/WMD Technician level is required to pursue certification at the Hazardous Materials/WMD Safety Officer level. Upon course completion, the attendee will receive a Certificate of Completion from Signet North America
